Pre-Licensing Real Estate Classes

To be eligible to become a licensed North Carolina real estate agent, you must:

1. Be at least 18 years old.

2. Be a US citizen, a non-citizen national, or a qualified alien under federal law. You are not required to be a resident of North Carolina.

3. Complete a state-approved 75-hour broker pre-licensing class.

4. Pass the North Carolina State Licensing Examination with a score of at least 75%.

5. Once you receive your broker’s license from the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, you will have 18 months to complete the required 90 hours of post-licensing education.

Get the professional instruction you need to pass your North Carolina real estate licensing exam with our pre-license real estate course. This is a required 75-hour course prescribed by the NC Real Estate Commission that MUST be passed before proceeding to the state licensing exam.

Once you obtain your license, you will have 18 months to complete the 3 follow-up companion post classes:

Rules and Legal Concepts (303)

Licensees are also required to complete 8 hours of Continuing Education (CE). This includes a 4-hour course of either a General Update (GENUP) or, if you are a Broker-in-Charge/Broker-in-Charge Eligible, the Broker-In-Charge Update (BICUP) Course. CE also includes an additional 4 hours of an approved elective, either in class or online.

General Licensing Course Information

Students are not required to have any formal educational background, but the course follows a challenging curriculum to prepare licensees for their professional responsibilities, and requires good reading comprehension and basic math skills. As such, a high school diploma or equivalent is strongly recommended. There is a minimum age requirement of 18.

The final exam is a comprehensive test covering all prescribed subject areas and all sessions. It constitutes 100% of the student’s final grade. Students must pass with a score of 75% or higher. Instructors will provide a comprehensive review, including a review sheet, prior to the final exam.

A student who receives between 65% and 74% are eligible to retake the final exam within 30 days of the course ending date.

The North Carolina Real Estate Commission Rules Require the Following:

June 10th is the deadline for completing all CE Courses in North Carolina including Mandatory Updates, Broker-In-Charge Update and all CE Courses whether in classroom or online.
Attendance of no less than 90% of class time is mandatory in order to receive credit for the course.
A maximum of four (4) hours of elective credit can be carried over to the next licensing year.
Class participants must comply with all student participation standards as required by the NC Real Estate Commission - Rule .0511 Subchapter 58E.
